Jewels Leading Lights Academy traces its roots back to September 2013 when it was birthed from Leading Lights Bible Club. Inspired by the vision of the Bible Club to raise children as Lights, the school embarked on a transformative journey to provide exceptional education to all. The journey began first with seven learners as an Early Years Centre. By 2015 it swiftly expanded into a primary school, marking a significant milestone as it ushered in learners in their formative years and began moulding excellence in academics and character.
A strong commitment to holistic education would in 2017 birth Jewels Leading Lights Academy's secondary school division. In the years leading up to this, the school had exhibited outstanding success in the National Common Entrance examinations with well over ninety percent of its learners bagging excellent results thus setting the stage for the tradition of excellence that endures to this day.
The journey has not been easy, truth be told. The challenges that accompany growth buffeted the young school in all ways possible, but it trudged on, weathering it all to deliver extraordinary achievements right from its first five years of inception. This was made possible by the school's unyielding grasp of its ethos of inspiring and empowering students to shine as lights, by fostering an environment that nurtures student's development in both character and learning.
The year 2019 birthed even more greater accomplishments for Jewels Leading Lights Academy. The school attained accreditation from exit examination bodies such as WAEC (West African Examinations Council) and NECO (National Examinations Council). JLLA's first attempt of WAEC's Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in 2021 yielded exceptional performance by its students, a testament to the school's unwavering commitment to the pursuit of excellence. In addition, the school's outstanding results in Cambridge IGCSE and Checkpoint examinations over the years finally earned it an approval from Cambridge International in 2022.
A history as this is a propellant; a catalyst for more. As such, Jewels Leading Lights Academy has now morphed into Jewels Leading Lights International – a vision eight years in the making. A brainchild of the school's visionary founders and all members of the Jewels family, JLLI is a state-of-the-art educational facility in Nigeria birthed to fill the lacunae in educational infrastructure. It seeks to provide little ones, through its Creche facility, and students aged 2 – 18 with access to modern and well-equipped learning environments. JLLI also seeks to contribute to bringing the overall quality of education and academic performance in Nigeria up to par with international standards.
The new Jewels Leading Lights International is a fusion of the Montessori, Nigerian, British and Canadian curricula. The institution is set to attract and retain highly qualified educators keen on innovative pedagogical standards and practices. By incorporating advanced technology and resources, the institution seeks to foster innovation, critical thinking, and practical skills in students in a bid to help them thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
